The chin float. Almost every dog life vest on the market supports the body and leaves the head to fend for itself — which is the wrong way round, because a dog in trouble doesn't sink, it tires at the neck and drops its muzzle into the water. So you can find your dog instantly. A wet dark coat vanishes against open water at surprisingly short range — the high-visibility fabric and reflective strips mean you can pick your dog out from the shore, from a boat, or in fading evening light, in one glance rather than three anxious minutes.

Measure with a soft tape while your dog stands normally. Snug, not tight — two fingers should fit underneath.

Between sizes? Go by chest girth — that's what holds the vest in place. Weight is only a guide, because two dogs of the same weight can be very different shapes. Still unsure, email us the measurements and we'll tell you which to order.

No — and we'd rather be straight with you about it. This is a buoyancy aid, not a lifesaving device. It's built to help dogs who can already swim but tire quickly or struggle to stay level, which covers most seniors, puppies, and flat-faced or deep-chested breeds.

It will not make a non-swimming dog safe in water, and it is not a substitute for supervision. Introduce it gradually, start in shallow calm water, and always stay with your dog.

Yes. The foam is flexible and the straps adjust close to the body, so there's nothing flapping or catching. Dogs swim, fetch and bound in and out of the water in it perfectly happily.

One thing worth knowing: a comfortable dog will often swim longer than usual. Build in rest breaks even when they seem fine.

Rinse in cold fresh water after every use — especially after salt water or a chlorinated pool, both of which degrade foam and fabric over time. Hand wash with a mild detergent if it needs more, rinse the soap out fully, press (don't wring) the water out, and air dry in the shade.

No machine wash, no tumble dryer, no bleach, no fabric softener, no radiators. Store dry and flat.
